IVKO Woman embarks on a journey back in time.
The Serbian label IVKO Woman is all about teaming creative knits and exceptional digital prints with high quality materials to forge a collection that is truly unique. This Winter 2020 season, the label will embark on a journey back in time through various eras of style collated into three families of garments. The journey begins with inspirations from the clothing of the near-2,000-year-old Hmong peoples of southern China, northern Laos, and Vietnam. The ornaments of the "Black Hmong" and "Red Hmong" form the templates for the diagrammatic patterns that IVKO Woman translates into all-over designs or splashes of colour on plain styles. Under this collection banner, IVKO Woman translates what is a strong traditional fashion style across to its knitted coats, dresses and skirts. Colour-wise, "Hmong People" is based on the origins of the Black & Red Hmong, with combinations of black with bright petrol or intense red commonly found throughout the theme. Bordeaux reds, beiges and ice blues, on the other hand, are a fashionable reinterpretation expanding the colour scheme of the "Hmong People" theme world. Floral patterns are firmly rooted in the IVKO Woman DNA, and the flowers of impressionist painting in the late 19th century serve as an inspiration for the 2019 Fall/Winter season. They find their way into
jacquards, embroidery and digital prints across all product groups. New this season is a 10-piece capsule with Compact Cotton Styles. The characteristic Art Deco shapes of the Tiffany lamp can be found in the third part of the collection
on all styles in knitted and printed patterns. When it comes to the interplay of colours, typical combinations are used as they occur in the Tiffany patterns: Strong green, orange and blue shades or pastel rosés, light blues and lime greens. Black and golden lurex accents add an elegance to this part of the collection. The lines and knitted designs of the dresses, skirts and trousers are reminiscent of the style-forming epoch of the 20s. The key piece here is a dress with gold-coloured Art Deco elements and blossoms.
Each season, the design team led by Chief Designer Milica Njego looks for innovative ways to implement his ideas with new materials and knitting techniques. Particularly noteworthy in the coming 2019 Fall/Winter season is the use of high-quality chenille yarns teamed with wool to create textured patterns. Many of the styles use mohair in individual pattern elements to achieve lively knitting effects. A new blended yarn made of 80% wool and 20% nylon proves a real winner with its extremely high-quality feel, lending a touch of luxury especially to the plain-coloured knits. Viscose Merino mixes represent a new twist at IVKO Woman, complementing 100% Merino and offering a lighter between-seasons yarn for the first delivery dates in the Autumn/Fall. Plain-coloured mix-and-match garments are becoming an ever-more important part of the IVKO Woman collection, making it possible to present IVKO Woman as an overall look. "We know that IVKO Woman is all about expressive, colourful knitwear. However, in recent seasons we have also placed more and more importance on combining strong individual items with single-colour styles. In the design team, we've discovered that these should not simply be plain basics in the collection colours, but knitted and woven items that really stand out, say, through their fabric structure or through special detail," says Milica Njego.
